It Is Time to Go Solar

By going solar, you'll be saving time, saving money, and most importantly - saving our planet.

Why Go Solar?

Sustainable Environment

Environmentally, the impact of solar panels is equally impressive. A 4kW solar system can reduce household carbon emissions by around 1.6 tons per year, which is equivalent to planting over 70 trees annually. Given that the UK government has committed to reaching net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, installing solar panels helps individual households contribute to this national goal by reducing reliance on fossil fuels.

Cost Cutting

Solar PV panels also contribute to substantial long-term savings. Over a typical 20-25-year lifespan, UK homeowners can save anywhere from £6,000 to £15,000 on energy bills, depending on system size, energy prices, and solar efficiency.

Increased Home Value

Solar panels directly contribute to improving a home’s EPC rating by making the property more energy-efficient, which can significantly boost its market value. For a typical UK home, this could mean an increase of £10,000 to £15,000 in value, depending on the size and efficiency of the solar system.

Transitioning to a modern future

Solar technology is highly efficient in the UK, despite the variable weather. Modern solar panels are capable of producing electricity even on cloudy days, operating efficiently with as little as 4 hours of daylight. Furthermore, advancements in battery storage technology mean that excess electricity can be stored for later use, further maximizing savings and reducing dependence on the grid.

PV Panels

Solar panels are the most visible part of the system, typically mounted on the roof where they can capture the maximum amount of sunlight. When sunlight hits the cells within the panel, it excites the electrons within the material, creating an electric current. This is known as the photovoltaic effect, which generates direct current (DC) electricity.

Inverter

The electricity generated by solar panels is in DC form, but most household appliances and the national grid use alternating current (AC). The inverter converts the DC electricity from your solar panels into AC electricity, making it usable for powering your home.

Battery Storage

Battery storage units can be integrated into your solar PV system to store excess electricity generated during the day. This stored energy can then be used during the evening or at night when the sun is not shining, allowing you to become less reliant on the grid. For example, if your solar panels generate more electricity than your home needs during daylight hours, the surplus power is stored in the battery rather than being exported to the grid.

Generation Meter

A generation meter tracks how much electricity your solar PV system is producing. This is a crucial part of monitoring the system’s performance and is often required for incentive schemes like the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG), which pays homeowners for excess electricity exported back to the grid.
